An unexpected value was returned during encrypted communication with the dongle.
Newer versions of Dinkey Pro include improved handling of these error conditions that make them much less likely to occur. Make sure that you are using the latest version.
If either of these errors is returned by the latest version of Dinkey Pro, it suggests a dongle hardware or firmware issue. If the dongle is under warranty you can return it to Microcosm or to your distributor for replacement.
486–487
An authentication error occurred during encrypted communication with the dongle.
If the error occurs every time the dongle is accessed, this suggests a dongle hardware or firmware issue. If the dongle is under warranty you can return it to Microcosm or to your distributor for replacement.
If the error occurs intermittently, check that the computer's motherboard and USB adapter drivers are up-to-date. Also check the dongle and USB port for signs of damage or a loose connection.
488
This error code is no longer in use.
If you encounter this error, you are using an outdated version of Dinkey Pro and you should update to the latest version.
489
The calculated expiry date is not supported.
When you set Max Days in a licence, the expiry date is calculated from the Max Days value the first time the protected software performs a protection check. This error indicates that the calculated date is so far in the future that it is not supported by the date format used by Dinkey Pro.

The Windows system directory was not found.
This error suggests that there is a problem with the computer's Windows installation. The extended error code is a Windows error code that may indicate the underlying cause.
